SUMMARY ABOUT ME

  • In fall 2011 when I jointed Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM), I was an established academician, police administrator and trainer, researcher, volunteer and fundraiser. During my working at AUM, I have distinguished myself in teaching, research, and service.

  • Teaching being a prime responsibility of AUM faculty, since my joining I maintain certifications for Online Teaching, Graduate Faculty Status, and IRB CITI in Social Sciences. In 2021, I received a Ten-Year Successful Teaching Recognition Certificate. In 2015, I received a Faculty Recognition Award for strong influence on student academic success and a nomination for a Staff Appreciation Award. At AUM, I taught twenty-nine graduate courses, thirty-six undergraduate, twenty-six combined undergraduate and graduate, thirteen comps, thirteen internships and directed research undergraduate and graduate courses. Assisted sixty-eight students to become CITI certified researchers and engaged students in my research and conference presentations.
  • From the beginning of my career at AUM till fall 2023, my average score from Chair’s Annual Evaluations in each of the three areas of teaching, research and service has been 3.5 (exceeds expectations) on a 4-point scale. Based on feedback of approximately 1600 students who have attended my courses, my student evaluation scores on continuous average have been 4.0 – 4.5 on a 5-point scale.

  • In the area of research, I have two books, one police training manual, one policy paper, three book chapters, twenty-one peer-reviewed articles including ten panel reviewed publications, one peer-reviewed monograph, three articles accepted for publication. I have completed eight grant awards, and three non-peer reviewed articles as third/fourth co-author.
  • I have presented in thirty-four conferences including twelve with invitation and four in the United Nations. Additionally, participated in eighteen conferences, served as discussant in four sessions and chaired twelve sessions. I am serving on a prestigious project, Global Virtual Engagement Committee, of International Association of Women Police to review the training needs of women police in the virtual society. With an intent to promote scientific research and evidence-based practices, I have developed individual research partnerships and collaborations with prestigious global justice and policymaking institutions to include United Nations, International Association of Women Police, Academic Council of United Nations, American Society of Criminology and United Nations Institute for Training and Development.
  • In the areas of service, I reviewed twenty-two journal articles, two books, served as reviewer for two journals and advisory/editorial board members of three journals. I served two time as Senator of my college, advisor to the Indian Student Organization and advisor to undergraduate and graduate students. Also, sponsored a travel grant, Pace Kaur Bahl, for women police officers to participate in the annual meeting of American Society of Criminology. From last three years I am contributing to financially to assist the critical needs of students in my college. I am current and/or former member of twenty professional national and global organizations.

Distinctive Achievements!

  • Creative Initiatives and Projects
In 2019, I had a major breakthrough in research when one of my policy papers, “Role and Scope of Women Police in Cybercrime and Victimization,” presented in the American Society of Criminology was evaluated by premium justice research organizations – World Society of Victimology, American Society of Criminology, and Criminologists Without Borders – as being relevant for bringing global impact. Paper was recommended for presentation at UN platform and inclusion in the United Nations proceeding. Presentation of this paper placed me in contact with one of the main organs of United Nations, UN Women, and one major global policing organization, International Association of Women Police. A list of the creative in-progress and completed activities and projects with these two global organizations is listed below.
